Barbara Ann Scott

The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, London Neighbourhood, announce the death of our dear Sister Barbara Ann Scott at the Residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph at 485 Windermere Road in London. Sister died on Thursday, June 20, 2019 accompanied on the last part of her journey by the Sisters, along with her sisters Lynn and Elizabeth, and the Care Centre Staff. Sister Barbara Ann was born in Windsor, Ontario, and joined the Community of the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1948. She is lovingly remembered by her sisters, Elizabeth and Lynn, brother Robert, numerous nieces and nephews, and her sisters in community. Predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Bertha (née Grondin), and siblings, Basil, Arthur, Yvonne (Hawkins), and Donald. Sister Barbara Ann was a gentle and loving person, with a lifelong commitment to caring for children in need. Trained as a Certified Institutional Worker and a Child Care Worker, she spent 57 years caring for children in various institutions in Windsor and in London, and for the last 26 years of her professional life, was a Foster Parent, along with Sister Corrie Daamen, for multiple- handicapped children and young adults unable to be cared for by their families. For Barb and Corrie, nothing was too much effort in their work to provide a home filled with love and dignity for the children under their care as well as opportunities for fun and outings. When health caused her to move to the Sisters' Residence in London, she continued to communicate with and to pray for the young people whose lives she had touched. On the wall in her room is a beautiful picture of a smiling Jesus surrounded by children and she often cited the Gospel passage, "Let the little children to come to me, for of such is the Kingdom of God". Barbara will be greatly missed by her dear friend and co-worker, Sister Corrie, by her Sisters in the community, her family, and the families and children whose lives she supported for so long. All services will be held at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 485 Windermere Rd., London. Visitation Sunday, June 23 from 2:30 – 4:00, and 7:00 – 8:00 pm with Prayers at 6:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial celebrated by Rev. Richard Charrette, Monday, June 24, at 11:00 am. Interment to follow in St. Peter's Cemetery.
