SISTER CONSTANCE KUEFLER
Sister Constance Kuefler (Viola Barbara) of the community of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Diocese of London died peacefully on November 18, 2010 at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Sister was in her 94th year and 76t" year of religious life. Lovingly remembered by the members of her religious community. Sister is survived by her sister Irene and husband Stewart Wells; brothers Ernest and wife Anne; Reverend Mathias Kuefler and Patrick and wife Daphne. Predeceased by her parents Mathias and Anna Kuefler formerly of Galahad, Alberta; her brothers Reverend Edwin and Reverend Juniper; her sisters Hilda MacDonald, Sarah and Josephine Kuefler. Sister's years of ministry were spent in teaching and in school administration. From 1937-1977 she served in catholic schools in Wetaskiwin, St. Bride and Edmonton. She had a particular expertise in music, drama, art and library sciences and enjoyed involving youth in festivals and plays. After retiring from teaching, Sister studied canon law and worked at the Archdiocesan Marriage Tribunal in Edmonton from 1976-1992. She also visited Venta Nursing Home, worked with the Legion of Mary and wrote a history of all the Sisters of St. Joseph of London who worked in the Archdiocese of Edmonton. In 2001, Sr. Constance moved to London, Ontario and spent her final years in the company of her community there. She will be remembered for her love of liturgy and her liturgical leadership in the Edmonton convent of the Sisters of St. Joseph. All services for Sister will beheld at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 485 Windermere Rd., London. Visitation from 2:30 p.m - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2010.
