Doris Zammit

It is with saddened hearts that we announce the passing, surrounded by the love of her family, of our dear Mom, Doris Zammit, at St. Joseph's Hospice, London, on Wednesday, March 8, 2017 in her 96th year. Beloved wife of the late Paul Zammit (1993) for 50 years. Dear mother of Louis (Mary) Zammit, Rosealine (Wayne) Lutman, Victor (Anne) Zammit, Mary Ann (John) Readings and Charles (Jennifer) Zammit. Loving Nana of Michael (Nadine), Greg (Jenn), Richard, Marie (Nev), Amy (Craig), Katie, Ryan (Carrie), Joey (Helen), Chris (Tanya), David (Sarah), Emily (Michael), Patrick (Ashley). Beloved great Nana of 18. Also survived by her sister-in-law Frances Vella, many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors. Predeceased by her grandson Tommy Readings and her brothers Lino and Joe Vella. Doris and Paul emigrated to Canada from Malta in 1950. Doris loved to knit for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She also loved to cook and bake her Maltese dishes. We long for Mom's Pastizzi's! Doris's life was sustained by her very strong faith and she lived for the love of her family. The family would like to express hearfelt appreciation to Dr. Mario Malizia, Dr. Theodore Vandenberg, Dr. Leslie Scott, Dr. Monica Bishop, Dr. Natalie Hertzman, Dr. Hafsuh Kahn, Rev. David Furlonger, Rev. Adam Gabriel, Rev. Darrell Shaule, Sister Dorothy SSJ, Sister Mary SSJ, staff and volunteers at the LHS Cancer Centre, CCAC and St. Joseph's Hospice, especially the Nursing Care Team who provided such loving and compassionate care to Mom and empathic support to family. Visitors will be received in St. Patrick's Church, 377 Oakland Avenue at Dundas Street, London on Saturday, March 11, 2017 from 10:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at which time a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, followed by entombment in St. Peter's Cemetery, London.
