Peacefully passed away in Parkwood Institute, London, Ontario on Saturday, September 28, 2024, Douglas Harry Morgan at the age of 87. Douglas will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by Solange Yetman and her children Gilles Zikora (Jeff) and Elizabeth Rooke (Rob); Barbara Gaudet and their daughter Amanda Antolini (Guerino) and Barbara’s sons Danny and Scott MacDonald; the late Sheila Morgan and their children Dougie Morgan (Cheryl), Dennis Morgan (Joette), Darlene Speck (Tim), the late Dawn Morgan; the late Alma Klein; the late Doreen White and her children Tanya and Jason Pulley; and their families.
Douglas served in the Royal Canadian Navy for 35 years as an Chief Engineer and with the engineering experience he gained with the Military he moved on to work for Paramax in Montreal, General Dynamics in London and Bombardier in Kingston. In his earlier years he became very active in minor hockey in Shannon Park, Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. His love for hockey and being around the arena continued here in London with the London Knights minor hockey program. He was a very proud man of all of these accomplishments throughout his life.
In retirement, he loved to travel south where the weather was warm and filled the rest of his time working with the Commissionaires of London and Lyndon Security. He also continued to help the Royal Canadian Legion in a volunteer capacity.
Beyond his family and friends Douglas had many other passions that brought joy to his life. He had a love for dogs and seemed to always have one by his side. He enjoyed classic cars, watching movies within the war genre or anything James Bond, a huge fan of the Royal Family and British cuisine and he loved to dance, especially to old time country music or the Golden Hits of the 50's and 60's. These provided many happy memories of Douglas that his family and friends will carry with them and cherish.
A private family service will be celebrated in the O’Neil Funeral Home, 350 William Street, London.
The family of Douglas would like to extend their gratitude to the Health Care Team in the Veterans Care Program at Parkwood Institute for their care and compassion they provided to him along the way. In memory of Douglas, memorial donations to the Veterans Care Program at St. Joseph’s Health Care - Parkwood Institute would be greatly appreciated. (https://www.sjhc.london.on.ca/ways-to-give)
