Elizabeth Ann Wasnidge

Surrounded by her loving family at St. Joseph's Hospice, Sarnia, on Sunday, February 21, 2016. After coming to Canada from England as a War Bride in 1946, Lily lived in Parkhill, London and Sarnia. She was very proud of the fact that she was in her 98th year. Predeceased by her husband Carl (from London, Ontario), grandson Jason Vautour (from Sarnia, Ontario), parents John and Mary Adams, siblings Vera, Charlie, Harry, Teddy, Jimmy, May, Jack, Winnie and Kitty, all from Lancaster, England. She will be sadly missed by her daughters and their families: Monica (Frank) Vautour of Sarnia, Frances (Keith) Sharpe of Sarnia, Judy (Fred) Hassan of Thornhill and Kathy Eddington of London. Grandmother of Trevor (Christina) Sharpe of Fonthill, Erin (Jamie) Moffat of Sarnia, Julie (Marcel) Blais of Sarnia, Jeremy Vautour of Sarnia, Elizabeth Hassan of Kingston, Tara Hassan of Toronto, Megan Eddington of London and Carly (Dennis) Eddington of London. Nanny and Grannynan to Emma and James Moffat, and Mitchell and Mackena Blais. Special Nan to Trinity, Cambria and Brianna. Auntie to many nieces and nephews in Canada and England. She was a proud member of the Catholic Women's League for over 70 years. She was very active and interested in everything. She loved her church and friends. She was always ready for a party, baking, playing scrabble, watching Downton Abby or watching the news - especially Peter Mansbridge. Her family was her priority and she lovingly guided them with her wisdom and gentleness. Friends will be received in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, 377 Oakland Ave., London on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 from 11:30 until time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon. Interment St. Peter's Cemetery, London. A Celebration of her life will take place at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club on Saturday, April 30 from 2:00-4:00 pm. The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to Dr. G. Maddison and the staff at both the Palliative Care Unit at Bluewater Health and St. Joseph's Hospice in Sarnia for their loving and compassionate care they provided Mom and our family. Thanks also to the staff at the Emergency Department at Bluewater Health, the Neurological team at University Hospital and Emergency response team in Sarnia. A special thank you to Dr. M. Sandejas and his staff for the many years of care and kindness shown to Mom. In lieu of flowers, Lily has asked that, if desired, donations be made in her memory to Community Concerns for the Medically Fragile (CCMF), 560 Exmouth St., Sarnia, N7T 5P5.
