Peacefully, at Mt. Hope London, on Monday, September 22, 2014, Helene Germaine McConomy in her 89th year. Born in Montreal to Thomas James and Margaret (Keleher) McConomy, Helene was educated at St. Brendan's Elementary School and Hochelaga Convent in Montreal, At age 18, she entered the Novitiate of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus and Mary in Outremont, Quebec. She was given the religious name of Sister Margaret Eileen. From 1946 to 1976 her teaching assignments were St. Aloysius School, Montreal, St. Thomas High School, Pointe Claire, Quebec, and Msgr. Harold Doran High School, Montreal, where she also served as assistant principal to Mr. Walter Reilly. When Helene retired from teaching, she moved to London and became a member of St. Peter's Cathedral Parish. Predeceased by her sisters Mary McConomy of Huntingdon, Quebec and Sister Eileen McConomy of Longueuil, Quebec. Visitors will be received in the O'Neil Funeral Home, 350 William Street, London on Wednesday, from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in St. Peter's Cathedral Basilica (196 Dufferin Ave) on Thursday at 10:30 a.m., followed by interment in St. Peter's Cemetery.
