John Christopher Gaynor

Sadly John passed away with family by his side after a short battle with dementia at Henley Place, London, Ontario. John leaves behind his daughter Ann-Marie Harpur (Steve) and son Allen (Leanne). Proud Papa of Sean, Keira, Nolan and Finn Gaynor. Sisters Claire Gossman (Dashwood) and Rose Treanor of Killucan Co. Westmeath Ireland and brother James of St. Albans, England. Predeceased by his wife Patricia (1995) and sons David (1969) and Ashley (2022) brothers and sisters Paddy, Tommy, Betty and Massie. John was born in Lisnabin Co., Westmeath, Ireland to James and Christine (O’Reilly) Gaynor. At the age of 29 John moved to Canada first arriving in London, then to Edmonton and then Thompson, Manitoba where he lived until his retirement in 1988, before returning to London. John met Patricia on a trip back home to Ireland and after a short courtship they were married in Thompson on April 23, 1969. John worked hard all his life from cutting the turf in Ireland to mining at Inco (now Vale). John enjoyed taking care of his garden and yard. John also enjoyed the company of friends and had been known to enjoy the odd O.V. He excelled at soccer in his youth and enjoyed watching and discussing sports. He was a wonderful husband and father and always took care of us no matter how old we were. The family would like to thank the third floor staff at Henley Place for the care and compassion they provided to John and us. Visitors will be received in the O’Neil Funeral Home, 350 William St., London on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 from 11:30 to 1:30 p.m. followed by the Funeral Service at 1:30 p.m. Interment to follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery, London, Ontario.
