The families of Hajjar and Farhat are saddened to announce the
passing of their beloved patriarch, Khalil "Charlie" Salem Hajjar, in
his 91st year, at his residence in London, Ontario, on Thursday,
January 30, 2020. Born in Baaloul, Lebanon, he was the Loving husband
of Victoria (nee: Farhat). Dear father of Riathe Hajjar (Carolyn),
Adel Hajjar (Samia), Lara Gabash (Late Tony) and Verna Hajjar.
Grandfather of Joella, Tanya, Christina, Elias, Mariam, Katherine,
Elizabeth, Adela, Salim and Chady. Great-grandfather of Leila.
Brother of Ibrahim and Nabil. Predeceased by his son Basseem (2012),
his siblings Youssef, Mounir, Zakia Nakad and Nouhad Elneser, and his
parents Salem and Nazima. Also loved by many nieces and nephews.
"Uncle Charlie" was a well known philanthropist who came to Canada in
1952 and opened the way for many others to follow. A quiet gentleman,
his respected intellect and great generosity allowed him to
accomplish many wonders for his beloved London Lebanese Christian and
Muslim Communities.
Visitors will be received in the O'Neil Funeral Home, 350 William
St., on Sunday, February 2nd, from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and on Monday
from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be
celebrated in St. Elias Church, 267 Adelaide St. S., London on
Tuesday, at 11:00 a.m., with Father Charbel Bousamra officiating.
Prayers Monday at 8:00 p.m. Interment to follow in St. Peter's
Cemetery, London. In Lieu of flowers the family would appreciate
