London, Ontario

With sadness, the family announces the passing of Margaret Elenore Dandeno, in her 101st year, at Grand Wood Park Retirement Home, London. Margaret was born in Fort Erie, Ontario to Elizabeth and Joseph Ellement.

Margaret was predeceased by her parents, her husband Fred (September 16, 2007), and by two brothers and 4 sisters, Jean (Willard), Cecil (Gladys), Carl (Kay), Dorothy (Wesley), Frances (Dennis) and Marie.Margaret is survived by her step-children Kathleen (Henry), Anne (Paul-Deceased), Mark, Andrew (Deceased), Sister Ursula (a member of The Sisters of the Precious Blood),all in Ontario, and Deirdre (Ray), New Jersey USA.

She was affectionately known as “ Honey ”, initially within the Ellement family, and, after Fred came into her life, to the Dandeno family.Margaret will be remembered and missed by her many nieces, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren, in Canada, England and the United States. She was particularly thrilled to have achieved the status of great great great aunt.Margaret had a deep and abiding faith life – a woman of prayer. In her work life, she enjoyed a challenging and rewarding career in London Ontario, teaching young children with hearing impairments. In her later years, Margaret met Fred and they married; she became a loving (and loved) mother to Fred’s grown children, and to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always enjoyed family visits and stories. Colouring books and games were always available for the children when they visited.

Margaret greatly enjoyed conversation; she found joy and interest in meeting people from all walks of life and she showed sincere interest in their diverse life stories. Margaret was passionate about learning the first name of anyone she met.

Margaret requested that special thanks be expressed to the staff of Grand Wood Park Retirement Home and especially to her PSW Lorna who extended many kindnesses to her.

Special thanks to those members of the Dandeno family who were there for her after Fred’s passing, stepdaughters Kathleen, Anne, stepson Mark, and Fred’s niece Marie and her husband Keith for their assistance and friendship.

A special thanks and acknowledgement to her nephew, Wayne Pearce and his wife Dianne of Fort Erie, Ontario who considerably assisted Margaret while she lived at Mt. Carmel Retirement Residence, St Catharines, and later at Grand Wood Park in London.
