Peacefully, at University Hospital on Wednesday, September 2, 2009, with her loving family by her side, Maria Agueda Afonso in her 89th year was reunited with her beloved husband Frank Afonso (2004). Dearly loved mother of Nancy Medeiros, Filomena Englbrecht (Bob), Gabriella Eugenio (Danny), and Frank Afonso (Kimberly Cooper). Cherished grandmother of Alcina, Darcy, Jeff, Tara, Malinda, Nathan, Ashley, Morgan and Madison, and great-grandmother of five. Dear sister of Eduardo Resendes of London, Marguinhas Alexandre and Eduardo Alexandre (Lourdes) of Portugal. Beloved aunt of Margaret, Frank, Melissa and Kayla Teves and many other nieces and nephews. Agueda was a kind woman with a heart full of love for her family and friends. She was an exceptional and giving woman who will be forever missed and always in the hearts of her family and friends. Visitors will be received in the O’Neil Funeral Home, 350 William St. on Friday from 2:00 - 4:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Holy Cross Church (Elm St. at Hamilton Rd.) on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Interment St. Peter’s Cemetery. Prayers Friday at 8:30 p.m.. In celebration of Agueda’s giving and loving care for children, memorial donations to the Boys and Girls Club would be greatly appreciated by the family.
