On March 22, 2025, the world lost a bright light, and heaven gained a chef, a traveler, and the best grandmother in existence. Fernanda Correia, 87 years young, left us with full hearts, cherished memories, and recipes that we’ll never quite replicate (no matter how hard we try).
Born on September 14, 1937, in Lisbon, Portugal, Fernanda was a force of nature—equal parts warmth, wit, and wisdom. She spent her life creating a home filled with laughter, love, and the irresistible aroma of whatever she had bubbling on the stove. If food is a universal language, she was fluent in it.
Her love for travel was legendary. From cityscapes to quiet sunsets by the sea, Fernanda embraced the world with open arms and a curious heart. Every adventure came with stories and souvenirs, but her favorite treasures were the memories she made with family and friends along the way.
It was her role as "Vóvó" that brought her the greatest happiness. She adored her grandchildren (Devon, Chloe, Caleb and David) with all her heart, filling their lives with laughter, baked goodies fresh from the oven, and endless “I love you’s”.Fernanda leaves behind a family who will forever feel her presence in the traditions she created, the meals she inspired, and the boundless love she gave. She is survived by the love of her life Francisco Correia (husband of 58 years), Alvaro Correia (Judit Bokor), and Sofia Brock (Dave Brock). She is predeceased by her parents Fernando and Elvira De Oliveira, her brother Alvaro De Oliveira, and son Nuno Correia.
To honour her and celebrate a life well-lived, we invite you to join us on Friday, March 28, 2025 at O’Neil Funeral Home. Visitation begins at 9:30am and will be immediately followed by a service in the chapel at 11:00am. A private family burial will follow. In lieu of flowers, please consider making a new recipe, taking a trip, or giving your grandkids an extra hug. She would have loved that.Online condolences & Guest Book at www.oneilfuneralhome.ca
