SISTER MARY PHILOMENE O’KEEFE
Sister Mary Philomene O’Keefe of the community of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Diocese of London died peacefully on August 9,2010 at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Sister was in her 87th year and 64th year of religious life. Lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law Mary O’Keefe of Goderich, niece Sister Kathleen O’Keefe CSJ, many nieces, nephews, friends and the Sisters of her religious community. Predeceased by her parents Cornelius O’Keefe and Anne (Hussey) formerly of Ashfield Twp., Huron County, brothers Rev. Thomas SJ, Eugene and wife Mary , Joseph, and Rev. Cyril SJ. Sister spent over 30 years as an educator in London, Woodstock, Sarnia, Kingsville, Leamington and Belle River. Following her retirement from teaching, she was in ministry with the Sisters at Mount St. Joseph in London. Later in her life, Sister spent twelve years in Goderich where she was in pastoral ministry visiting long term care facilities and responding to the needs of the elderly in their homes. Her quiet presence and deep faith brought consolation to those whose lives she touched. All services for Sister will be held at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 485 Windermere Rd., London. Visitation on Wednesday, August 11th from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. Vigil Service on Wednesday, August 11th at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection on Thursday August 12th at 11:00 a.m. Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery. O’Neil Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
