Sister Mercia Bondy(Bernadette) of the Community of the Sisters of St. Joseph of the Diocese of London died peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2008 at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph. Sister was in her 84th year and her 67th year of religious life. Lovingly remembered by her brother Cameron and wife Hazel of Fresno, CA, and sister-in-law Shirley Bondy of Windsor, nieces, nephews and the Sisters of her religious community. Predeceased by her parents Louis Bondy and Audrey Gibb, brothers Hugh, Homer and Gregory. Sister spent over 30 years as a music teacher in Windsor, Leamington, London, Sarnia, St. Thomas, Woodstock, and Seaforth. She possessed a talent for bringing out the best in her students and many of them thrived under her expert tutelage. During her retirement, Sister assisted with secretarial tasks at Mount St. Joseph music department and did homemaking and pastoral work at St. Michael's Parish in Leamington. Sister was a woman of faith and perseverance in the face of ongoing health concerns. All services for Sister will be held at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph, 485 Windermere Road, London. Visitation from 4:00 p.m. on Monday, October 27. Vigil Service on Monday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection on Tuesday, October 28 at 10:00 a.m. Interment at St. Peter's Cemetery following the Mass. O'Neil Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
