We celebrate the life of Mirga Bendoraitis (Sulcaite), a woman who
had a fiery personality, a true love of nature and the outdoors, an
overall zest for life and friends she's made, and an intense devotion
to family. Her long and diverse journey started over 87 years ago in
Latvia where she enjoyed only her very early years with Mom and
siblings; then to Australia after the war where she met her life
partner Juozas "Joe" Bendoraitis and had her 1st three
children: Lilly Bruce, Regina Caverson and Diana Robertson; then
finally off to Canada in 1959 where she and Joe had their last 2
children: Jon (Jonny) Bendoraitis and Mary Ellen Bendoraitis. Her 6
grandchildren - Stephanie, John Jr., Miranda, Alyssa (and husband
Daniel Cormier) , Dustin and Michael, as well as her extended family
- son-in-laws Guy Caverson and John Robertson, and daughter-in-law
Michele Doucet will all miss "granny" or Queenie". She will also be
missed dearly by her many friends along the way, especially her aging
Lithuanian community and singing choir "Pasvaiste", where she was
revered many times to be the life of the party and the heart of the
sopranos. :) In her later part of life in Canada she worked at
Victoria Hospital (old South Street site) for close to 40 years as a
Ward Aid, continued to be an attentive mother. She attended a
majority of her children's school functions and sporting events, and
still managed to travel the world, create a beautiful home and
gardens, fish, camp, and hold memorable parties. Her love of nature
also extended to her many cats, dogs, and various stray
animals,(included wild ones), including Paschti, and her last
companion Ruby. Although it was a struggle, she was strong right to
the end of her life and she will be missed by all. In lieu of
flowers, donations are welcome in her name to any local women's or
animal shelter in your area as her passion was to help those less
fortunate. Visitors will be received in the O'Neil Funeral Home, 350
William Street, London on Wednesday, December 5 from 10:00 am until
the time of the Celebration of Life in the Chapel at 11:00 a.m.
Private interment at a later date. Online condolences & Guest Book at www.oneilfuneralhome.ca
