The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada, London Neighbourhood, announce the death of our dear Sister Norita Keenan at the Residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph at 485 Windermere Road in London. Sister died on May 25, 2017 accompanied on the last part of her journey by the Sisters along with many friends and relatives. Sister Norita [Nora Catherine] was born in Owen Sound, Ontario on January 16, 1927 and joined the Community of the Sisters of St. Joseph in 1943. She is remembered with affection by all her CSJ Sisters as well as her nephews Jonathan Prince, Jason Prince and nieces Isolde, Cassandra, Suzanne and Rebecca [Pugh]. Predeceased by her mother Nora Teahan and her father John Keenan, her sister, Mary Grace Prince, and her brother John Keenan. Sister Norita was best known for her years of teaching English and her love of literature. At any moment she could begin to recite lines of Shakespeare or the poetry of the Romantics to the delight of her listeners. Her teaching career took her to London, Windsor, Sarnia and St. Thomas. After she finished teaching, she was receptionist at St. Joseph's Hospital information desk where her considerable gift of hospitality helped so many. She had a large capacity for friendship to many who came to visit her and to whom she offered support and a listening ear. All services will be held at the Sisters of St. Joseph Residence, 485 Windermere Road, London. Visitation will be on Sunday, May 28 from 2:30-4:30 and 7:00-8:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, May 29, at 11 a.m. with Father Richard Charrette presiding, followed by interment in St. Peter's Cemetery, London.
