The Congregation of the Sisters of St. Joseph in Canada is saddened to announce that Sister Eileen Foran (Sister Vincentia) died peacefully at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph 485 Windermere Road, London Ontario, on June 28, 2021.
Eileen Catherine Foran was born on May 7, 1925, in West Wawanosh in Huron County and entered the Sisters of St. Joseph on November 21, 1945 at Sacred Heart Convent. She will be fondly remembered by all her CSJ Sisters as well as her sister-in-law Helen Foran and many nephews and nieces including Patricia Needham and Rosemary Foran.
Sister Eileen is predeceased by her mother Mary Ellen (Keane) and her father Cornelius Foran, brothers John (Sophie), James, Elmer (Isabel), Norman, Leo, twin brother Gordon and her sister Mary Teresa (Sister Mary Cornelius, CSJ).
Eileen possessed a pioneering spirit that allowed her to reach out wherever there was a need spending over 26 years as an educator in various schools throughout southwestern Ontario. Upon retirement, Sister Eileen volunteered as receptionist at Mount St. Joseph Academy and as a pastoral visitor at St. Joseph's Health Care in London.
Sister Eileen had a gift for language making. She had the ability to weave words together to tell a story, creative song lyrics or contribute a blog for our website. Her quiet, but strong presence, supported family members and many others during her well-lived lifetime.
Due to continuing COVID-19 restrictions a private vigil service will be held at the residence of the Sisters of St. Joseph on the evening of Thursday, July 1, 2021, and on Friday, July 2, 2021, a private funeral liturgy will be celebrated in the chapel at 11 am.
