It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of our beloved grandmother, Zofia Arent, on Christmas Eve, 2024. Her peaceful departure on such a meaningful day reflects the grace and love she brought to all who knew her.
Born in Poland in 1930, Zofia lived through challenging times with remarkable strength and resilience. She rebuilt her life in Canada, creating a home filled with love, art, and hope for the future. Zofia was a talented artist whose paintings captured the beauty and relevance of the finer things in life. Her kindness and quiet strength were an inspiration to everyone around her. She passed on these values to her family, creating a legacy of perseverance, beauty, and strength that lives on.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Zenon; her daughters, Stella and Irena; her sisters, Apolonia (Pola), Teresa, and Weronika and her brother, Mieczeslaw (Mietek).
She is survived by her sister, Longina (Lona); her granddaughters, Helena and Zoe; her great-granddaughter, Willow. She was loved by her nieces Anna Mikicinski, Roma Welker (and husband Alex), Margaret Pilch (and husband Marian), Danusia Pozarlik (and husband Jacek), Basia Gaszcz (and husband Andrzej), and Stanislaw Roszkiewicz (and wife Grazyna), along with her great nieces and nephews, Sylwia, Jakob, Ania, Krzysztof, Karol, Maciek, Kamil and Natalia.
Zofia’s life was defined by her creativity, strength, and love for her family. Though she will be deeply missed, her spirit will continue to shine in the art she created and the lives she touched.
Her family invites all who knew her to celebrate her extraordinary life and the enduring legacy she leaves behind on Saturday, December 28th, at Our Lady of Czestochowa Church in London at 10 am. Her burial will be at St. Peter's Cemetery at 11:30, and there will be a light luncheon hosted at the Polish Combatant's Hall at 80 Ann Street in London shortly thereafter.
